Automatic Backwash Filtration for Automotive E-Coat and Pretreatment Lines
Automotive assembly and Tier 1 supplier plants operate some of the most chemically demanding liquid filtration environments in any manufacturing sector. E-coat (electrophoretic coating) pretreatment lines — degreasing baths, phosphate conversion stages, and rinse circuits — carry contamination loads that make conventional bag filter and cartridge filter systems both operationally disruptive and prohibitively expensive.
K Factor, through its formal North American partnership with Lenzing Filtration, is the exclusive supplier of the K-Optifil automatic backwash filter for automotive pretreatment applications in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The K-Optifil has been installed in over 100 automotive E-coat pretreatment lines across Europe, Asia, and North America — making it the most proven automatic backwash filter technology in this specific application.
Why degreasing and phosphate baths need automatic backwash filtration
Degreasing baths remove machining oils, stamping lubricants, and metallic fines from auto body panels before the phosphate conversion coating is applied. As the bath operates, metallic fines, oil droplets, and degreasing chemical residues accumulate in the fluid — degrading cleaning performance, increasing carry-over to the phosphate stage, and eventually requiring a full bath dump.
Bag filters and basket strainers installed on degreasing circuits require manual changeout when loaded — typically every few days in high-throughput automotive operations. Each changeout represents a scheduled maintenance intervention, a disposal obligation (used bags contaminated with automotive degreasing chemicals are regulated hazardous waste in most jurisdictions), and a brief period of unfiltered bath circulation.
The K-Optifil eliminates all of this. The bath is filtered continuously, the backwash cycle completes in seconds without interrupting circulation, and the only maintenance requirement is periodic filter fabric replacement — measured in months, not days.

Start Your 30-Day Free Trial
K Factor's 30-day free trial makes the K-Optifil or an inline pressure strainer system available in your facility at no cost and with no purchase obligation. We assess your flow rate, pressure, fluid, and contamination profile. We deliver and commission the system inline. You run it for 30 days and measure continuous flow performance, reject volume, and maintenance time eliminated. If the results don't justify the investment, return it. No invoice.
Available to qualifying facilities in the United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and other Gulf markets.
