Vacuum Filtration for Central Coolant Systems — Multi-Machine and High-Volume

Central coolant systems — single large-volume filtration installations serving multiple CNC machines simultaneously through a distribution network — represent the highest-impact filtration investment available to a machining facility. A well-designed central system eliminates individual machine sump maintenance across the entire facility, delivers consistent coolant quality to every machine simultaneously, and reduces total coolant consumption and disposal cost to a fraction of decentralised sump-based operations.

K Factor KĀV vacuum filtration systems are configured as the filtration core of central coolant installations serving 5 to 60 simultaneous CNC machines. The KĀV's 400 GPM capacity, high vacuum force, and near-dry solids discharge make it the highest-performance core filter available for central coolant applications — capable of handling the combined sludge load of an entire machining cell or production line.

Central coolant system design with KĀV filtration

A central coolant system comprises four elements: a dirty coolant collection circuit from all served machines, a central filtration station (the KĀV), a clean coolant distribution circuit returning filtered coolant to each machine at the required pressure and flow, and a solids management system handling the captured sludge from the filter.

K Factor engineers design and specify the complete central system — collection piping, pump stations, KĀV configuration, clean coolant distribution, and solids handling — as an integrated project. The central system is commissioned as a single turnkey filtration installation, with K Factor engineers on-site for commissioning and initial operation.

Advantages of KĀV-based central coolant vs individual machine filters

    Central KĀV system
    • Coolant quality
Uniform filtration quality at every machine — single filtration specification maintained for all served equipment
    • Maintenance
One system to maintain instead of one per machine — maintenance labour reduced by 80–90%
    • Sump cleaning
Eliminated — individual machine sumps remain clean because dirty coolant is continuously pulled to central filtration
    • Coolant management
Single point for coolant concentration monitoring, biocide dosing, and pH adjustment
    • Disposal
Single near-dry solids waste stream from KĀV — not one wet sludge stream per machine
    Individual machine filters
    • Coolant quality
Varies machine to machine — dependent on individual filter condition and maintenance schedule
    • Maintenance
Multiple systems — each requiring media replacement, periodic cleaning, and individual attention
    • Sump cleaning
Required periodically for each machine — 2–4 hours of downtime per machine per cleaning
    • Coolant management
Monitoring and treatment required at every machine individually
    • Disposal
Multiple waste streams — wet sludge from each machine requiring hazardous waste collection

Running gravity filters that can't keep up with your sludge load?

K Factor's 30-day free trial is available for KĀV and Q-Filter vacuum filtration systems. We assess your coolant volume, sludge loading rate, micron requirement, and floor space. We commission the system in your facility. You run it for 30 days and measure filtration quality, media consumption, and solids disposal volume. If it doesn't deliver, return it. No invoice. No commitment.

Available to qualifying manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and other markets.
